In a demonstration that supported the policy of self-determination for Falkland Islanders, the peaceful rally was photographed by Argentine and British press including The Sun newspaper.

In the wake of the Argentine president's appeal to the United Nations that claimed Britain was militarising the South Atlantic, this week actor and ‪Ambassador-at-large for Haiti ‬Sean Penn urged talks between the United Kingdom and Argentina on the Falklands saying, "I think that the world today is not going to tolerate any kind of ludicrous and archaic commitment to colonialist ideology."

Angered by Penn's comments one Islander told Penguin News, "he shouldn't get involved in things he doesn't understand, the UN supports our right to self-determination."

Another commented, "we always try to offer support to other places with problems, we even raised thousands of pounds for the Haiti earthquake fund, he should consider that we have rights too and deserve support."
